C9000 TV Phone – Tri Band, Dual Sim and Has a 5.0 MP Camera With Telephoto Zoom Lens

I can remember when a dual sim phone that had a real time analog TV was considered a novelty and very innovative, as the “TV out” feature was more accepted. This is not true anymore. Today, there are a few brisk selling phones that feature real time analog television. Interestingly, many of these TV phones also have full keyboards / scroll bars which is preferred by many for texting. This makes them very sought after in some circles.

Likewise, the built in digital camera on many import clones has greatly evolved. Initially, many imports got by on 1.3 mega pixel cameras. This eventually evolved to 2 mega pixels. Today, anything above 3.0 MPs is in my opinion upgraded while 5.0 MPs is the gold standard. Of those, a few have electronic telephoto lenses capable of protruding and retracting when needed or not in use.

The new C9000 camera phone is a perfect example of this. Although there is a very similar phone (called the T200) which is dual band and works in Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, the C9000 is tri band which allows use in the United States in addition to being dual sim. The 9000 is loaded with the features synonymous with the clones, like web browsing and texting (GPRS, WAP 2.0, SMS, MMS); full MP3 / MP4; an e-book reader; a 3.0 inch WQVGA TFT touch screen; built in television; FM radio, an extremely generous talk time of 460 – 500 minutes (standby of 450 – 500) and Bluetooth. You can download thousands of NES games for this phone online.

The TV on this phone has good reception and a clear picture and the speakers / sound system is sharp and crisp, but to me (and to most consumers) the real standout of this one is the camera. This is not like many camera phones that you can use in a pinch when you forget your stand alone digital camera. In fact, if you look at this phone from the front (and are not able to see the keys), you could well mistake it for a stand alone camera. This camera phone is as good as any digital camera I’ve ever owned. As a parent, this is a huge plus for me because I’m not having to lug around both a camera and a phone.

The C9000 is popular with texters too because of it’s full keyboard with real raised keys. Some folks just don’t like messaging on an iPhone type flat touch screen.

Price wise, this mobile phone is reasonable. You can occasionally get one for under $100, but you’ll more commonly pay in the low to mid $100 range. Considering a decent camera would cost this much (not to mention the MP3 / MP4 and portable television, as well as the ability to use whatever carrier you wish, you really can’t go wrong.

T68 Blackberry Clone (AKA HiTune) – This Smart Phone Has Windows Mobile, WiFi, and Supports Java

Lately, there’s been a lot of talk about iPhone clones / Chinese knock offs that support Java. In terms of iClones, the best selling models are the CECT i9 and the SciPhone i68. However, both of these are flat, touch screen models. Some folks really like phones (like the Blackberry productivity models) that allow you to text and enter information with a full keyboard.

For those consumers, the T68 or HiTune can fit this bill. This phone is sometimes called a Chinese knock off of a blackberry as it’s a true smart phone that allows you to compose, read, and edit documents away from your home and office.

The T68 is also one of the few clones that contains windows mobile, WiFi, and Java 2.0. This allows you to download and run thousands of third party software applications and gaming options. (Gaming can get you in big trouble though if you mainly want this phone for productivity. You can download NES Nintendo and Windows PPC games on this phone. This can be a big distraction if you are not disciplined.)

To even out productivity with gaming, the HiTune runs and comes with Word, MSN, Excel, and PowerPoint. Outlook express and GPS are also included.

You transfer data from the phone to your computer via ActiveSync and USB cable. This makes working away from your computer and on the phone extremely easy. The e book reader allows you to read and edit PDF documents as well.

The bonus gaming and productivity features do not cut into your typical standard clone features, like: web browsing; messaging; texting; MP3 / MP4; a 2.0 mega pixel built in camera; and Bluetooth.

The Chinese T68 mobile phone has a sleek, streamlined appearance with full keyboard and scroll bar which should appeal to a wide variety of consumers. On first glance, it reminds me a blackberry curve.

This true smart phone is an interesting mix of the Chinese clone “everything in one phone” business model combined with the productivity and messaging functioning of the Blackberry. It is quick and high performing. If you like the thought of an unlocked clone, but would prefer a model not based on the flat, touch screen on the iPhone and want more productivity options like windows mobile, GPS, and Java, the HiTune may be worth a look.

Usually priced somewhere around $150-$175, there’s a lot to like about this fully loaded PDA. Although most people think of flat, touch screens when they think of clones, there are many additional options that include full keyboards and other high end options. The T68 is among the nicest examples of this.

Nokia N99i TV Phone – A Dual Sim, Texting IPhone Clone With Analog TV and a 3.0 Mega Pixel Camera

There’s very little debate that the iPhone clones are popular because they offer all of the features made popular by Apple at a fraction of the price. These little knock offs are always unlocked, allowing you to use which ever network or carrier you chose without being chained to AT&T. They are usually dual sim, which is really like having two phones for the price of one. And, you can remove the battery yourself with out having to run to the dealer every time the battery dies. In today’s scary economy, every little bit helps, so these things are very attractive to consumers.

But, if there was ever any draw back to the clones, it was that most models mandated you text on a finger touch screen. This works great for some people, but many are used to and prefer texting on raised keys. Luckily, there are a few models that allow this, offering clone features combined with a full keyboard and scroll bar.

Of these texting clones, the N99i (or Nokia N99i as it is sometimes called) is probably the most popular. It’s attractive, fast, user friendly, and sleek. Messaging on it is a nice, quick experience. Better yet, the manufacturers have added an analog TV and an awesome 3.0 MP camera to this phone.

There is one very popular clone with the “TV out” feature (the CECT A988). This means that you can hook the phone up to your television and watch video on the phone on a larger screen. The analog television on the N model is different because you are watching real time local television via antenna. The 988 is also not as finger friendly for messaging.

In addition to this, the Nokia N99i is a very feature rich mobile phone, which includes: a 3 inch, finger touch LCD screen and stylus; full MP3/MP4 capabilities; a very high quality 3.0 mega pixel digital camera and webcam; double Bluetooth; a voice recorder; fm radio; two sim slots; and expandable memory. You can transfer information between your computer and the phone through a USB cable. The phone does not require software and will read your GSM sim card. This one is a tri band.

This one is a very high performing model that you can usually get for under $150 if you know where to look. Considering the very high quality camera (most of the replicas have 1.3 or 2.0 mp cameras) and the analog television feature, this is very reasonable, even for a clone.

M88 Mobile Phone – The Features on This Quad Band Include Windows 6.0, WiFi, GPS, and Java

It seems there’s a new iPhone knock off released each week. The manufacturers are getting very good at deciphering what consumers want in a phone and providing it in a timely manner. Still, a knock off that included WiFi, GPS, Windows 6.0 and supported Java was a long time coming. Many of us thought we would get it with the Nokia N95 clone, but we didn’t. The HiTune T68 does have Windows, but not the rest of the features. Finally, this trinity of features became available with the CECT T32, (AKA Daxian X999 – but this one is tri band, not quad band.) This tradition continues with the M88 mobile phone (which is a quad band). I will discuss the M88′s features in this article.

Specialty Features: Of course, the biggest draw to the M88 is that it has many of the features that other clones don’t – namely Windows Mobile 6.0, GPS, WiFi, and Java 2.0, as previously mentioned. With Windows and the “flo touch” interface, this phone is very intuitive and user friendly.

The third party applications, games, software, and downloads available via Java are many. Just some of the more popular applications are Outlook Express, Skype, MSN, Word, Power Point, Excel, And PDF. This really adds another dimension to this phone, with the possibilities being pretty much endless, based on what you want or need in a phone.

Standard Features: In addition to the additions which get the most attention, this phone also has the “everything in one phone” model that has made the clones popular, like: web browsing, email, texting and messaging (SMS, EMS, GPRS, MMS, and WAP); Bluetooth; MP3 / MP4; FM radio and voice recorder; handwriting recognition; e book reader; digital camera (2.0 mega pixels) / webcam; and data transfer (and charging if you like) via USB.

The memory is expandable on this phone so you don’t need to worry about it eventually bogging down or slowing up. The M88 has a 3.2 inch screen and the “flo touch” or “menu in and out” touch interface which means that you can scroll through data or manipulate documents using only your fingers. The talk time on this one is a generous 3-5 hours, with the standby time at about 120 hours.

Size: This mobile is your standard sized clone. It is not as small or as sleek as some of the “mini” models that are out today. It weighs about 150 grams and has the dimensions of approximately 115mm X 61mm X 14mm.

Quad Band: As mentioned earlier, the M88 is a quad band, supporting 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz. This covers most all GSM networks world wide. You don’t need any software. The phone will read your GSM sim card. Since the very similar T32 smart phone is a tri band, this is one of the major differences between the two.

Price: This phone is currently running around $250 -$280, depending on the memory included. Sometimes the T32 is a bit more expensive, but typically not much. But, these phones are arguably the most loaded and complete iPhone clones to date so most feel that the price (which is slightly higher than other popular models which don’t include all of it’s bonuses) is well justified.
